    HONOLULU - The State Department of Taxation is warning Hawai'i taxpayers of a new e-mail scam. Taxpayers are being sent a fraudulent e-mail that claims to be from the State of Hawai'i Department of Taxation informing them they are due a tax refund.

  • State Tax Revenues in Fiscal Year 2008 Reach All-Time High of Up $4.6 Billion

    HONOLULU - The State of Hawai'i collected a record $4.6 billion in general fund revenues for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008 (FY08). This amount reflects a 1.2 percent increase above general fund revenues for the prior fiscal year, but is $100 million less than the Council on Revenues had estimated would be available.

    HONOLULU - Ronald Staton, who was previously sentenced in a tax case, became the first realtor to have his deferred acceptance of guilty plea revoked for failing to comply with all of the terms and conditions of his deferral and was resentenced before the Honorable Judge Edwin Nacino.

    HONOLULU - Owen M. Ho, was sentenced before the Honorable Judge Russell Nagata in District Court for failing to file his general excise tax returns for tax years 2001 through 2006.... In another case, Honolulu psychologist Patrick McGivern earned over $585,000 from 2002 through 2006 and also failed to file his general excise and net income returns for those tax years....
  • Defendant Ordered To Pay Restitution In Theft In Tax Case

    HONOLULU - Tarry Limakade pled no contest to one count of theft in the 1st degree and was sentenced before the Honorable Derrick Chan in First Circuit Court.
  • State Tax Department Going Green - Discontinues Mailing of Tax Booklets
    June 16, 2008
    HONOLULU - To save money and reduce the use of paper, the State Tax Department will stop automatically mailing Income Tax Booklets (for example, N-11), Business Tax Booklets (for example, General Excise) or Estimated Payment Vouchers to taxpayers' homes or businesses.
