Who is an Aggressive Driver?

Anyone who exhibits any of the following behaviors:
  • Speeding
  • Weaving in and out of traffic
  • Following too closely
  • Making gestures to other drivers
  • Running red lights
  • Unsafe lane changing (abrupt lane changes without notice)
  • Changing lanes or turning without signaling
  • Failing to yield the right-of-way
  • Passing on the shoulder or unpaved portions of the roadway

Most Importantly, Don't Become an Aggressive Driver

  • When you feel yourself getting angry, take a deep breath.  Remember safety first, especially if you have family members or passengers with you.
  • Plan your routes in advance and leave early so you won't rush.  Prepare for unexpected traffic delays.
  • Remain alert.

When Confronted by an Aggressive Driver:

  • Make every attempt to get our of their way, give them room.
  • Do not challenge them by speeding up or attempting to keep up.
  • Wear your seat belt.
  • Be prepared for any abrupt or sporadic maneuvers by the agggressive driver.
  • Avoid eye contact.
  • Ignore gestures and refuse to acknowledge them.
  • Report aggressive drivers to the appropriate authorities by providing vehicle and driver description, license number, locations of incident and direction of travel.
