Freeway Service Patrol Begins Program Development
The state DOT has awarded a $3.9 million contract to develop, manage, and promote a pilot demonstration of the Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) program. The FSP will focus on providing motorist assistance as a means to reduce congestion on O‘ahu’s freeways. Service patrol trucks will patrol the H-1 Freeway and the H-201 Moanalua Freeway during weekday rush-hour traffic to assist stranded motorists, help clear minor incidents and assist with the safe management of traffic around major incident scenes. FSP service is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2009.
