CONTEST
SUSPENDED
The State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, Airports
Division, annually sponsors a State Aviation Art Contest as part of
the International Aviation Art Contest (sponsored by National
Aeronautic Association, National Association of State Aviation
Officials, National Aeronautical and Space Administration and the
Federal Aviation Administration in cooperation with the Federation
Aeronautique Internationale).
The purpose of the contest is to motivate and encourage young
people to become more familiar with and participate in aeronautics
and science.
Students from all public and private schools in the State of
Hawaii between the ages of 6 and 17 were encouraged to participate.
Judges from the airport/airline community selected the winners in
three age categories:
Category I (ages 6 – 9)
Category II (ages 10-13)
Category III (ages 14-17)
The first place winner in each category was awarded a roundtrip
Interisland airline ticket and a $100.00 US Savings Bond; the
second place winner was awarded a roundtrip Interisland airline
ticket and a $75.00 US Savings Bond; and the third place winner was
awarded a $50.00 US Savings Bond. In addition, all winners
are presented Hawaii DOT Certificate.
