Remote Automated Weather Station or RAWS is a system or network of weather stations run by various local, state, and federal governement agencies. In Hawaii, there are over 60 RAWS. The Division of Forestry and Wildlife manages 19 RAWS statewide. These include 7 on Kauai, 3 on Oahu, 1 each on Maui, Molokai and Lanai, and 6 on the Big Island.

The RAWS collects the following data:

  • Air temperature
  • Relative Humidity
  • Dew Point
  • Fuel Moisture
  • Fuel Temperature 
  • Precipitation
  • Wind Speed
  • Wind Direction
